招收全奖研究生(GIS背景优先)
PhD/Master Assistantships in Precision Agriculture and Environmental Modeling
The Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech University is seeking one PhD student and one Master’s student with assistantships, who are interested in using advanced technologies such as remote sensing, variable rate technology, GPS/GIS, and environmental modeling to optimize crop inputs, especially water use for improving agricultural production and sustainingenvironment quality.
We are interested in improving the bottom line of production agriculture through optimization of crop inputs and management, while protecting the environment. Our research interests include studies at a range of scales, from individual plant, experimental plot, commercial field, to regional, national, or even international levels. Specific research projects include irrigation scheduling based on weather and satellite imagery, variable rate water and nutrient application, remote sensing for plant phenotyping and growth monitoring, crop growth modeling and simulation, environmental modeling and hazard prediction, etc. The Precision Agriculture and Crop Ecophysiology Lab maintains state-of-the-art facilities including high performance computation power and software programs, sophisticated remote sensing platforms and sensors, as well as various radiometers, field spectrometers, calibration equipment, and ecosystem measurement instrumentation.
Prospective students should have:
• The candidates should have finished a M.S. or B.S. degree before August 2017 with a major in agronomy, soil science, ecology, geography or related environmental sciences.
• For the PhD candidate, experience in remote sensing and/or GIS, either through courses or work; experience in digital image analysis of satellite images is highly preferable. Experience in applying aerial or UAV imaging in plant phenotyping or other applications isdesirable but not required.
• Strong background in computer programming (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) or environmental modeling is highly preferable for PhD candidates.
• Strong English communication skills.
Application Process:
Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and review will continue until suitable candidatesare chosen. Applications received before October 30, 2016 will be given full consideration. The positions are open to both US citizens and international candidates. Interested applicants are asked to e-mail the documents listed below to Dr. Wenxuan Guo at wenxuan.guo@ttu.edu.
• Letter outlining research interests, academic and professional backgrounds
• Resume or CV,
• Unofficial undergraduatetranscript (and graduate transcript for PhD candidates),
• GRE (TOEFL if applicable) scores,
• Names and contact addresses of three references

Applications received before October 30, 2016?
