Postdoctoral Position – Ferroelectric Controlled van der Waals

    A postdoctoral position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is available in Prof. Xia Hong’s group. The successful candidate will work on exploring the fundamental properties of van der Waals materials-ferroelectrics hybrid structures via scanning probe microscopy, magnetotransport and optoelectronic studies. The postdoc will be encouraged to enhance his/her research credentials through publications, and to guide graduate and undergraduate students. The researcher will work in close collaboration with the experimental and theoretical groups studying related topics at the UNL Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), and will have access to the facilities at Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience (NCMN).
    The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field. Successful candidates are expected to have strong expertise in one or more of the following experimental areas: nanoscale device fabrication, low temperature magnetotransport studies, optoelectronic studies, and scanning probe microscopy such as conductive probe atomic force microscopy and piezoresponse force microscopy. Past experience on 2D materials, such as graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides, is highly desirable. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled.
