The Division of Materials Science and Engineering at the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in computational materials theory, in particular the thermodynamic properties of solid-liquid interfaces, and how these properties affect crystal nucleation and growth. The candidate will work with an interdisciplinary group of theorists from computational physicist, condensed matter physicist and chemical physicist. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Sciences or closely related field must be completed prior to start date along with expertise in liquid theory/density functional theory or in electronic structure theory using quantum density functional theory, with some computational experiences.

Preferred qualifications:
Evidence of ability to work individually and as part of a team; strong track record of first author publications in peer reviewed journals; good oral and written communication skills.
