Sample TextPh.D. Research Assistantship in Composite Materials

There is one Ph.D. Research Assistantship (RA) opening available in the Advanced Metacomposites Laboratory [http://metacomposites.uakron.edu/] in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron. The research work will be to investigate polymeric composite materials in at least one of the following areas:

mechanical testing and characterization;
impact and dynamic response; effects of
manufacturing defects;
non‐destructive inspection techniques;
design of composite
sandwich structures; and mechanical analysis of non‐planar composite structures.

Candidates for the Ph.D. RA position should possess a M.Sc. or M.Eng. (or very good B.Eng. with research experience) in solid mechanics, with strong interest and experience in computational and/or experimental analysis of composite materials.
