About the Center:
The Centre for Advanced Additive Manufacturing (AdAM) at The University of Sheffield conducts world leading research in the fast emerging field of Additive Manufacturing (aka 3D Printing). Our activities are led by a team of internationally respected academics backed up by high performing and dedicated researchers and technicians. Much of our research is published in high quality journals and is also valued by industry across many sectors including aerospace, medical devices, automotive, consumer products etc. Our labs are home to world class manufacturing and testing facilities; in order facilitate an open approach to collaborative research that enriches our activities our facilities are located in a variety of labs, each with complementary equipment and expertise that help to push the boundaries of the technology forward.

- Laser processing of Biomaterials
- Aerospace Designer Alloys for Selective Laser Melting
- Optimization of Components for AM
- Customised Oral and Maxillofcial Protheses using AM
- Development of new materials for laser sintering
- Process and Material development for High Speed Sintering
- Manufacture of parts for end users including F1 teams using Electron Beam Melting
About the scholarship:
The candidates will have the opportunity to get a full scholarship. Or 200000 yuan each year, including living subsidies, single room free campus student apartments and health insurance. During the doctoral research period, students can get opportunities to participate in academic communication in USA, Germany, Japan etc.
About the entry requirements:
a. a bachelor/master degree in Metal material, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering (construction materials, composite materials, and etc.) or other relevant disciplines;
b. publication experience is preferred;
c. strong innovation and scientific research ability, good academic literacy and team spirit
d.fluent English communication skills and proficient in reading and writing (Overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent)
