PhD Student Positions in ME at UCF
The Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has multiple openings for full-time PhD students to start in the Fall semester of 2017. The research focus of this lab is to develop new computational methods and tools for intelligent/smart manufacturing systems using sensing and artificial intelligence technologies. Example research thrust areas include (1) data-driven smart manufacturing; (2) real-time manufacturing process monitoring, diagnostics, and prognostics; (3) reliability engineering and quality control; (4) cyber physical systems. Desired skills include signal/image processing, machine learning, statistics, applied mathematics, engineering optimization or engineering physics.
These PhD student positions will be fully-funded through Graduate Fellowships, Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs), or Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). An ideal candidate is expected to have an earned BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as applied math or engineering physics. Previous experience in sensors, data analytics, computer programming, and process monitoring are preferred but not required. Interested individuals should first send an email to Prof. Dazhong Wu at wudazhong121@gmail.com with the subject line “Ph.D. Application - UCF” along with a CV/resume, unofficial transcripts, GRE and TOEFL scores. Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
